Some or the other time you feel stiffness or pain in your neck. Yoga really works great for neck pain by ensuring self-healing. Yoga brings flexibility, strengthens the neck muscles, increases the flow of blood and nutrients to the neck area and relieves from the pain.
Bhujangasana or the Cobra Posture is one of the best yoga asana for neck pain. By practicing this asana gently, you can get rid of neck pain.
How to practice bhujangasana for neck pain?
- Sleep in a prone lying posture
- Keep your legs straight and together
- Keep your toes together pointing outward
- Fold your hands at your elbows; keep them by the side of your body i.e. chest, keep fingers together and your palms on the ground.
- Rest your forehead on the ground.
- Bring your chin forward and place it on the ground
- Raise your chin and turn your head slowly backward as much you can. Maintain this posture for sometime.
- Now retreat all the steps one by one slowly and come to the normal position.
Here are some other yoga postures which are really helpful for neck pain:
- Bridge poses
- Corpse pose
- Standing forward bend
- Cow and cat poses
- Child’s pose

How to practice?
- Sit straight and cross your legs
- Draw your shoulders back
- Now exhale and slowly drop your chin towards chest, pulling your shoulders and elbows back
- Then inhale and raise your head back to the original position
- Repeat it five times. In the fifth time exhale, drop your chin and stay in this position for three breaths, breathing through the nose
- Now inhale, raise your head back to the original position
- Exhale, slowly drop right ear towards right shoulder
- Inhale; raise the head back to original position
- Repeat it five times. In the fifth time exhale, drop the ear towards the right shoulder and stay in this position for 3 breaths
- Now inhale and raise your head back to the original position
- Repeat the same on left side
These easy and simple exercise tips can keep your neck pain-free and functioning well. But be sure to check whether your neck pain is due to some serious causes.
