Improve Breathing by Dirga Pranayama Yoga

Dirga pranayama yoga is one of the best techniques for breathing among all the other yoga workouts. You can overcome all the breathing problems by practicing pranayama yoga regularly. Dirga pranayama yoga can be practiced either during the morning time or during the evening time. You can even do this yoga asana by making yourself comfortable by sitting on the floor with your legs crossed. You can do this asana by lying down on the floor and by intaking long and deep breaths.

  • Lie down with your back on the floor and close your eyes. Relax yourself completely includes body and mind relaxation.
  • Start breathing naturally that is concentrate on your inhalations and exhalations with awareness. Avoid engaging yourself in the thoughts(if any) while concentrating on breathing. If you are getting constant thoughts in your mind and if you are getting distracted then just let go off all the thoughts from your mind and bring your attention back to your breathing exercises.
  • Now once you let go off your thoughts you can just concentrate on your breathing. Now start inhaling deeply. After inhaling one breath, try to hold on this breath in your stomach and then slowly release it as you exhale.
  • Make sure that your stomach is empty soon after exhalation. You can repeat this process as many times as you can but it is recommended to follow this process at least for five to six times( that is minimum six breaths). Make sure that your ribs expand during inhalation process and the ribs slide during the exhalation process.
  • During second inhalation, just try to inhale the air little more compared to the first inhalation and exhale the air little more compared to the exhalation in the previous step.
  • You can concentrate on your breathing by maintaining a constant pace while practicing the breathing exercises. Ensure that you are not breaking your breaths that is, do not pause or break either during inhalation or during exhalation.
