Yoga Basic Pose: Half-Moon Pose

What good is your yoga asanas (yoga poses) now? If you exercise yoga asanas regularly, you should be able to perform some yoga basic poses, such as mountain pose, table pose, or downward dog pose.

How about the benefits of yoga to your muscles and organs? Do you feel any positive development? If you do, then well. It means, you have performed yoga asanas in a good way.

Through this article, we provide you with another yoga basic pose, half-moon pose. This pose is relatively easy to perform. You may begin half-moon pose with downward dog pose or triangle pose.

Yoga Basic Pose – Half-Moon Pose (also known as Ardha Chandrasana)

You may begin your exercise with downward dog pose or triangle pose in a bid to make you easier in performing half-moon pose.

Yoga Basic Pose - Half-Moon PoseThe steps to carry out downward dog pose are as follows:

  • Spread a blanket or yoga mat on the floor
  • Start with table pose
  • Lean yourself back toward the heels
  • Press the hips and buttocks up and back
  • Straighten your legs

You may also use triangle pose to start your half moon pose.

The steps to perform triangle pose are as follows:

  • Stand with your feet and arms together by your sides
  • Separate your feet slightly further than your shoulders distance apart
  • Raise both of your arms straight out from your shoulders parallel to the floor. Remember to make your palms facing down.
  • Turn your torso to the left
  • Bend at your waist
  • Bring your right hand to your left ankle or vice versa. Be sure to make your left arm extended upward.
  • Keep both of your legs and arms straight without bending your knees and elbows
  • Turn your head upward to the left
  • Gaze up at your fingertips of your left hand

From downward dog pose or triangle pose, do the following steps:

  • Bend your right knee and take a small step with your left foot
  • Keep your balance on your right foot
  • Extend your left leg out
  • Be sure to put your right hand on the yoga mat/blanket
  • Keep looking at your left hand fingertips
