What is Complete Yoga?

Complete yoga is nothing but living an yogic life, that is, following the principles and practices exactly as specified in yoga scriptures. Yoga is being practiced from 5000 years in the eastern countries like India and China. There are many examples of individuals that followed these practices and achieved great success in life. Complete yoga consists of following some ethical principles in life, diet, asanas, pranayama and meditation.

According to sage Patanjali (greatest master in yoga practices) there are eight limbs in yoga to be practiced for a well balanced life. They are

Yama : Universal morality
Niyama : Personal observances
Asanas : Body postures to attain physical strength
Pranayama : Breathing exercises (also called as controlled breathing) to increase oxygen flow
Pratyahara : Controlling of senses
Dharana : Concentration and cultivating the inner perceptual awareness
Dhyana : Devotion and Meditation to improve cosmic energy absorption
Samadhi : Union with the supreme self or god

Diet

  • Food we eat plays an important role on our physical and mental health
  • It is recommended to eat only vegetarian food. If that is not possible then steam cooked meat is allowed. However, cooking should not be hot or spicy.
  • Hot and spicy foods not only damage your stomach but also play an important role in the mental behavior.
  • It is believed in India that, most people who eat meat with lot of spices tend to loose there temper easily and become angry sooner compared to people who eat mild food.
