If you desire to start teaching yoga to several age groups. Keep in mind that the way of teaching differs with every age group especially the elderly.
One needs to be very patient and explicit in their explanation of the poses. Other than these there are several other tips, you need to keep in mind. They are as follows.
1)Â Keep your class as small as possible, so that you can focus on one elderly individual at a time.
2)Â Be aware of their health conditions, not every body can do a back twisting pose as some of them may be suffering from acute backaches.
3)Â Reduce the time length of every asanas. The aged may not have so much of strength or patience to hold every asana for a long period of time.
4)Â The explanation you use for every asana should be simple and less complicated. Usage of Sanskrit terminology may confuse the individual. It would be best if you would use English terms for every asana, this way the aged individual may be able to remember the exercise.
5)Â Use plenty of props; this will be helpful for the aged, as they will find some way of supporting their body weight.
6)Â Encourage the individuals with kind words and praises, this will boost their confidence and motivate them to work harder.
7)Â Be very clear about the instructions, make sure they understand it.
Keep these points in mind and have a lovely time educating people about yoga asanas.
