This pose is done at the end of an exercise regime, in order to calm and relax the body. It helps one enter into a meditative state and helps improve one’s concentration.
Instructions
- One is required to sit on the ground with legs folded and back straight.
- Place your palms on your knees; let them face upwards. Join your index finger and thumb in the manner similar to the way you would indicate the number three on your fingers.
- Close your eyes.
- Keep your neck straight.
Points To Keep In Mind
Though it would be very difficult to sit with your back straight initially, you will get used to it gradually. One may also find it difficult to focus at this time, a hundred thoughts may bombard your mind, and to think absolutely nothing will be a arduous task. Stay focused even if you feel its not happening. With practice, concentrating only on your breathing movements will become an easy task.
This pose greatly helps by opening the hips and strengthening the spine. It also helps promote inner peace and calm.
It can be done every time you are disturbed and worried about something.

If you find the ground to be very hard, you can seat your self on a folded mat or rug.
In order to enjoy the several benefits that come with this pose, it should be practiced early in the morning. It proves to be a great start for the day.
